Dude, you clearly have a big problem and I suggest you get professional help! I know several female EMTs and paramedics and have a huge amount of respect for them. I also know several women invloved in urban search and rescue…as responders. Yes, we climb on rubble piles and go into dangerous buildings to pull people out. Yes, we save lives. Yes, I’ve met women with multiple specialties (eg. Medic, swiftwater, high angle) and good at all of them. So, what did you say your qualifications were?

I’m really hoping that this is a joke. I have been working in Rescue Squads and EMS for over 5 years, and have made a positive and professional name for myself. I work hard, pull my own weight, and demand nothing but respect. I will admit some women choose this career for the wrong reasons, but that is not every woman. I’m getting very tired of having to defend and prove myself worthy of this profession. When some of my fellow male colleagues that don’t do as good of a job can go about their day as normal simply because they have a penis.

There was a violent earthquake in New Zealand today. Camera crews and reporters were there. What I saw was Women standing there crying and hugging people whilst the men were running around trying to help and looking in collapsed buildings for people who were trapped. Then when it came to people being rescued the women all of a sudden couldn’t walk and men had to carry them until they were forced to walk, then they would go hug people and cry have their injuries looked at and make a show out of it. The men that were rescued came out with gashes in their heads and covered in blood and still tried to do what they could to help.

While I agree that not ALL women are cut out for EMS, over the past 12 years in I’ve seen several ( including one of my partners ) who had no problem lifting, carrying or decking anything she needed to. On the same side of that, just because you have testicles anproduce more testosterone than estrogen doesn’t mean you will be worth anything in the field. I’ve worked with and fired enough “macho manly men” over the years that its about an even split when it comes to the discussion of tits vs balls in EMS. The Ines that make do so by working hard, overcoming their limitations and actually doing their damned jobs and not by stndning in a corner on scene scratching their balls and taking about the latest piece of tail with other boys.
