|
I used to get up before the very buttcrack (4AM) of dawn and work until 12-2PM* (As it varied) Loved it.
I used to get more done (as my job was primarily hard labor) and make more money in my day before most people woke up, I loved my job and have missed it greatly since I left it for more money about 9 months ago. I work now from 2PM - 10PM as a night custodian and my job is boring and routine (I like the routine part) - But I am not a night person.
However, over the last few months I have really thought about going back to my old job. Then I got to thinking I used to get up and work hard at my previous job and not get to sleep until midnight anyway, So...
Since I am up anyhow, I signed up to work both jobs full time.
New times would be:
J1: 6AM - 1PM (Manual Labor)
J2: 2PM - 10PM (Non-Manual Labor)
three five minute commutes?
15hr days five days a week...
I don't have alot of fancy gadgets or really enjoy alot of entertainment, Mostly "just left to myself" it seems I don't utilize my activities in any constructive or even satisfying way. Just leaves me feeling mostly robbed of valuable time.
Its not like I am taking anything from that wasted time...
Its all kind of the same crap anyway, everyday...
Britney spears, Bush, Politics, faster, better, dumber... everything.
I just don't get off on virtual progress... games, movies & etc..
~I hope to start Jan. 21st
So who thinks I can't do it? _________________ "Computers and women are ruining the country" -Al Bundy |

You should be able to do it for a while. I used to work in the days
Mon-Fri 9a.m til 4p.m. Sat. 9a.m.-12p.m then nights Mon-Thur 7p.m-7.30a.m. which
was 85 hours a week. I lasted about 2 and a half years before I
had to give nights away, I became like a walking zombie from
the lack of sleep. I went back to just day shift but with alot
more overtime. See how you go. _________________ Real men don't start fights, they finish them.

I have to agree with Knuckles.
I've done the long hours, too but it can wear you down after a while.

I agree also. Watch your health. Long hours drain you via slow attrition, and its all the more difficult to recover from burning at both ends than it is just one. Keeping fit will help, and that means more than just the hard physical labour of your day job. Cardiovascular and metabolism both need to be in tip top shape. Keep well on top of your nutrient intake, and remember, even though your evening job is less physical that doesn't stop you burning brain sugars and proteins at a phenomenal rate. _________________ "Women don't really want to hear a man's opinion, they just want to hear their own opinion in a deeper voice." - Jeff Foxworthy.

find a good day job and keep it. Only work nights if ya absolutely have to. Night work is generally a guarantee of an early death. _________________ The Best Line From Harold & Kumar Escape From Gitmo:

Oh really? damn.
I am not doing crazy hours like the OP, but I have a 2nd part timer that is in the evening 2-3x a week. It's not so bad unless it matches up with the same days as my full timer (M-sat). Sucks working 7 days a week though. But I'm not doing anything else, so might as well work, amirite?!
Still, to this day I can't believe there are women out there that will have a man pay for their tuition for school and junk, and as soon as she drops out for whatever fatass reason she has, she refuses to get herself a job in the meantime to help out. I mean, how fucking hard is it to get a even a small part time job? Ugh. _________________ God created man, and finding him not sufficiently alone, gave him a companion to make him feel his solitude more fully.

If you like your job, you'll never work another day in your life.
-Mark Twain-
That said, why in God's name would you work 15 hours a day? Do you have a family of 6? Do you live in a large house? Are you saving up for a sports car?
I work part time at a job I love. I never start work before noon, I never get off later than 9, and for most of it, I'm by myself running the show. It's easy, it pays well, I receive full benefits, and I spend about an hour each shift surfing the internet on my PDA because I have the operation perfected, and always finish early. Any extra money I need, I make from repairing and building PC's on the side.
It leaves me with tons of free time to geek out, nerd it up, and drink lots and lots of beer. |

... Personally, I work it for the money so I can "not work" during the other two seasons of the year and still have plenty of money.
I work sometimes during those periods with a part time job, but my efforts during the "colder months" allow me the extravagance to work a part time job and live a full time life for good half the year without going into debt or the poor house. _________________ "Computers and women are ruining the country" -Al Bundy |

I pretty much sleep every other day. It's not that I don't have time to sleep it's just id rather be doing other things. _________________ __________________________________________

Worse still, would be working two jobs then still coming home to that nagging bitch. _________________ "Women don't really want to hear a man's opinion, they just want to hear their own opinion in a deeper voice." - Jeff Foxworthy.
