Why do people degrade American Beers?

Once my husband ordered me a Black and Tan beer at a restaurant we were eating at.

I had never herd of that before, but he assured me that I would love it. He was right, I had about five of em.

I think a Black and Tan consist of Guinness and a pale ale (not sure what brand of pale ale).

American beers were the best in the world until prohibition. The do gooders really fucked things up. Another thing is that american beers tend to be pilsners lighter in color with a crisper flavor, whereas in europe the popularity of porters and ales never dropped as much as they did here. Another thing is climate. Nothing is better than drinking a ~50 degree light colored beer after working in hot weather. Ales and porters are fuller and have more of a weight to them and are better in the colder seasons of the year.

Drink what you like though... beer snobs should be shot.

I’ve had lite beer. It is not so bad but I prefer MGD (Miller Genuine Draft)

Every now and then I go fancy and have a Ricards Red.

Really though there isn’t a bad beer just some better ones than others.

I think it's because beers sold in the United States have to be pasteurized, whereas beer made in other parts of the world are typically not. Pasteurization involves heating the beer up slowly then cooling it to kill off microbes, and increase shelf life. Who likes their beer cooked?

Belgian beers are not my taste. Leffe tastes to strong to enjoy during a nice meal.

Whenever I have a nice meal, Miller Lite has the perfect taste to make my meal taste better.

Just because the taste is stronger, doesn't mean it tastes better.

Montreal: Miller Lite, not Miller Genuine Draft Light. There's a big difference.

Not really better, but still, I understand your point. Different beers for different occasions and meals. A belgian beer with strong meals like a steak on bbq is good. But with rabbit it may not be really adequate.

I just find that a complex beer, with different aromas, is harder to find with less alcool (not impossible though). A good example would be the Hoegaarden, a summer classic.
