I just recently found out from my Grandfathers brother that he was a student at the Naval Academy back in the 50's with aspirations of being a Marine Corps officer. My beloved grandmother, who'se gifts included ruining every mans life she touched, forbade him to complete his education there because she didn't want to be an officers wife. It turned out that his one major goal in life had bee nto be an officer. He quit, went to a regular college, and settled in taking care of his family. Do to several other screw ups after that do primarily to my shrewish grandmother he was forced into obscurity and had to move to the west coast. He died old and sad, and never told me about it. I was sad when I found out that he had never completed that goal, but I did respect his completion of his other obligations to his family. It was the first time I had some inkling to how bad my beloved grandmother had screwed things up for my whole family, but it wasn't the last story.
