But, Dick… it gets EVEN MORE manly than that set. That set is only 24 volumes of World War Fucking Awesome Two.

They are presenting the laughable views of some people on their magazine covers.They are wisely not giving any evidence to prove the validity of them.

Unlike Dick, who is proving by facts many of the things he says.Satire always portrays the bitter truth and the facts with exaggerations and cliches added to give it the humor.I gave the wrong term for the New Yorker’s edition of humor.But it is not nearly close to being satire.

Slapstick humor is physical comedy and the comedy of exaggerated violence. The New Yorker itself calls the cover satire (http://www.newyorker.com/online/covers/slideshow_blittcovers), so I think New Yorker’s opinion on their own cover>your opinion on the cover. The point is that I can understand why people might think such a way and laugh at that perceived world they have created with their satire without actually believing it. I can see through the eyes of a crazy neocon who thinks Obama is a Muslim Anti-Christ without thinking that a small, tiny lick of it is true, and laugh at how funny it is to see that world sarcastically validated on a serious stage.

You do not have to agree with satire at all in order to understand it. Where did you get that definition? I can, for example, find the New Yorker cover with Obama as a terrorist to be funny, well conceived satire while not believing he is anything of the sort.

Thank you for the insight. Extra points for realizing the obvious comparison to be made between Dick and Maddox. If the reader base understood the concept of humor and just played a funny role on the comments instead of taking themselves seriously, this could be one of the best satiric comedy sites on the net. I just hope that most of these people really are playing roles, just so far as to be Poes indistinguishable from the real thing.
