Of course there are exceptions to all of this. That’s why I stressed that it’s generally so. But I tend to operate more from my logical side, and even so, I’ve been blinded by emotions more times than I can count. I have to really concentrate sometimes to keep the logic circuits going. Take a woman who doesn’t care to do that, which is most women, and further take away any accountability for her actions, and tell her she’s a goddess just because she has a pussy, and you get what the men on this board and others are fighting.

Ok, to answer your questions:

Yes, I have studied women’s history. It is a subject that has fascinated me for a very long time. In fact, I own a copy of “A History of Their Own”, and it was a fascinating read. I’ve devoured books about famous women – Harriet Tubman, Hatshepsut, Abigail Adams, Amelia Earhart, Nellie Bly, Dorothea Dix, Boudica, Anne of Cleves, Eleanor of Aquitaine, you get the picture. Kind of interesting, too, how many of those women became famous and accomplished great things without the help of feminism.

Have I read a book by any single feminist…I guess that book I just referred to was written by feminists. “The Handmaid’s Tale” by Margaret Atwood gave me chills. A truly scary vision of our future. “The Mists of Avalon” by Marion Zimmer Bradley, along with the sequels. I read one about a woman of the Kung tribe, “Nisa”; it was located in women’s studies. That’s all I can think of off the top of my head.

Do I know when feminism started…I’m familiar with the women’s movement generally from the Susan B. Anthony days.

When the women’s suffrage movement started…didn’t Susan B. have something to do with that? Women federally got the vote around 1920, without looking it up. Several states had already granted women the vote.

I am a recovered feminist, although I do have to say I was never hostile about it. LOL @ brainwashed country women. How much intelligence does it take to learn a set of tenets by rote, internalize them, and hate half the human race?

Let me ask you one or two questions.

Do you have any idea how many women accomplished great things before the advent of feminism? Have you read the SCUM manifesto, which calls for the annihilation of men? That was written by a feminist, I believe. Have you ever read a book by Christina Hoff Summers? Did you know Germaine Greer has a fascination with adolescent boys? Did you know that when most women couldn’t vote, neither could most men (except for the landowners)? Did you know that when women didn’t have access to education, neither did most men (except for the clergy and the wealthy)? Did you know that it was ONLY extremely wealthy women who didn’t work outside of the home? Did you know that there was NEVER a “rule of thumb”?

If your deliberate ignorance and mindless regurgitation of feminist made-up propaganda is an example of this so-called “highly intelligent” group of women you speak of, I think I’ll pass, thank you.

I like your ‘unplugging’ metaphor. Not original to be sure, but the first time I’ve ever heard it applied to beliefs surrounding feminism. Unplugging for me — and yes, I was one of those foolish men that was a feminist — was a less painful process than for you, though in my case it took some years and came entirely from within.

I apologize for treating you with suspicion, especially given that Dick asked you to blogroll him.

And for those of you who don’t buy that a woman could be altruistic (not that I blame you), I have a son and a daughter, and their father and I will celebrate 19 years of marriage this month. I want my son to find decent women to date, and know that it’s ok to be a man

I think this helps a great deal. Simply listening to colleagues, I note that many women seem to become quite troubled as they start seeing the world through their sons’ eyes. I don’t suggest that it’s a requirement, but it’s certainly helpful.

@ Kelly- The way you stereotype your own gender is laughable. A woman should know that many, many women do not fit the mold. No, I don’t go after the “exciting” type of man, I have only dated and would only date “the nice guy”. I don’t crave attention. I’m hardly promiscuous and have a sense of honor. I’m usually pretty logical. Many women I know are the same way.

Also, men “allowed” feminism to happen? Equal rights (which is what feminism started out as, I’ll agree it’s gone too far and is now impeding on men’s rights) is an inherent right that is not men’s to give. Men could have stopped it, I suppose, but it would have been wrong. Women should have the same legal rights as men (right to vote, to own property, to have equal opportunity in the workplace, etc.) I should hope you agree with at least that.

As a college student, from what I have seen, amonst the young, anyway, men are far, far more promiscuous. It’s hardly even close.

You also miss the point. This site viciously attacks women. No matter WHAT a woman’s lifestyle or behavior, she is condescended to at best, and at worst she’s completely degraded. Slurs against women are constantly used. If you read the comments, people literally have advocated killing and raping women/feminists. People have suggested that women’s bodies are unnatural and deformed. You technically are not even permitted to speak here. If you want to support MRA sites through your blog, that would be an admirable way to bring men’s rights issues to attention, but this is not an MRA site. This site attacks the entire female gender. Supporting it is bordering on self-loathing.
