I liked “As Good as it Gets.” Melvin Udall / Jack Nicholson is a dude who speaks truth too often, and therefore gets mis-labeled as a misogynist and a misanthrope. His soft-thinking pals (one woman, one gay man) start out disliking his take-no-prisoners attitude but eventually learn to appreciate his firm grasp of reality. The movie was marketed as a chick flick by casting it as a story of a harsh man who learns to soften himself; but I find it more a story of a soft pair of people who learn to harden themselves, and therefore it might more accurately be called a man flick.

Kind of. I don’t think it’s great enough a movie to be a REAL man flick. Not like “The Great Escape” or “The Dirty Dozen” or something. But still, not an utter chick flick like they wrongly marketed it.
