Ladies in case you havent figured it out by now, ip addresses look like “215.212.45.312″ or something, what you are looking at is probably a “MAC” adress of your network card/adaptor - ( no big deal, just cause i used to be a Microsoft TCP/ip student doesnt mean anybody else has to) but thats not an ip address, silly.

Most likely you have a dynamic IP address, meaning your ISP assigns you a different IP address periodically. Not much reason for doing it these days, except for dial-up, it’s mainly because having a static IP is an advantage to anyone wanting to run thier own server of some type and making DHCP the standard they can charge you more for the ‘privilege’ of a static IP.
