One in Three Women is Illiterate

Sometimes the statement men are better than women leaves me wanting a little more in the flavor of substance. It’s not often. Like all men, the shortcomings of women are something I’ve learned to accept and move on. However, occasionally we men need to re-evaluate. We need more than rational hypothesizing and logical conjecture. We need facts for the why’s and how’s.

I pose this as a formal theory. Men are better than women at everything because something like 30% of women are illiterate.

Sounds shocking doesn’t it? But really, when do women need to read? Numbers don’t count as reading, so illiteracy does not impede women from writing checks or measuring all the progress they’re not making while they’re not working out at the gym.

Before I get too ahead of myself let me quote some statistics. UNICEF and UNESCO say that two out of every three illiterates is a woman. They give the world-wide feminine literacy rate in the sixtieth percentile, while the male literacy rate towers above that number at nearly 90%. I think you’ll agree that that’s plenty of numerical majesty to spare.

Initially, when I saw the figures I thought to myself, maybe that’s why women are so shitty at everything. Just like the kid who is really shitty at baseball and then it turns out he just needed some glasses. Maybe women just need to learn how to read.

Then I realized the writing on the walls of every cluster fuck women are about to step into is only metaphorical writing. They also don’t need to be able to read to shut the hell up every once in a while and listen when something other than Oprah or an appliance that resembles Oprah is dispensing sound life advice.

Perhaps instead of Easy Bake Ovens and Barbie Dolls this Christmas, mothers should be buying their daughters Hooked on Phonics.

If women’s literacy seemed to interest you, I wonder why this topic is valid. Obviously if it did you would want that. Why not do a check as to see why women are prohibited in some cultures.

Not quite Sway, but you’re actually very close. The only thing most women can comprehend is a man’s money. We all know the woman’s mantra in marriage. What’s hers is hers, and what’s his is hers.

Yes, unconscious favoritism. I think schools should be gender segregated for that very reason, and also because people perform better academically without the distractions of the opposite sex.

But nevertheless more and more studies are revealing that girls are outperforming boys now for some reason. More than 55% of university students in the US are females and girls do better and better each year in subjects like math which used to be considered a female weak point. I think boys maybe are more distracted in school or more prone to peer pressure that smart people are “geeks” so they focus more on sports and other “manly” things.

I’m going to home school my kids until high school and then send them to girls/boys only schools. I think that would suit their best interests more that regular high schools.

home school until high school…why not just let them sell crack and prostitute. they’d probably turn out better than all the home schooled fucks I’ve ever met

I went to an all girls school and I hated my parents for it, I still kinda do. I always got on with boys better, I hated going to an all girls school. Teenage girls are manifestations of pure evil. Combined with home schooling, that is one way to make your children completely out of touch socially with the other sex, which is probably bad for them when they are a teenager. It certainly is one more pain in the ass when you’ve got all those hormones and esteem issues.

My all girl’s school had an incredibly high pregnancy rate, you take girls away from boys and they don’t know how to deal with them, they are incredibly naive, and before you know it there are babies involved.

It might look good on paper but I wouldn’t recommend it.

I know, i’ve considered the social aspects, but there are alot more ways to get your kids involved socially besides school.

I’m definately homeschooling, theres no question about that. I trust my parenting abilities enough that i can raise smart well adjusted children who understand the opposite sex enough not to impregnate or be impregnated by them. Im not definite on the sex specific schools yet, i will let them in on the decision.

Well good luck whatever, but extra insight is always handy.I don’t think that home schooling is legal where I live anyway. I also don’t think that raising well adjusted children is easy, nor do I think there are any specific things to do that can guarantee children are raised as anyone really wishes.

I am sure you will make the best decisions for you so good luck.

Fabulously true comment there. Despite how many manpoints I loose for saying that. I don’t care.

I went to an all boys school, and all it got me was an unholy grasp of the english language, a hatred for Christianity, and an unnatural lust for pussy.
My sister went to an all girls school too, and has had 1 abortion (that I know of, and probably 100s more), has never been married, and if I’m to be totally honest, is a fucking cow as a person, shallow as the surface tension for water. She’s starting to reach the age at which shes unmarriagable and desperate too. It’s almost amusing.

This kind of schooling is pretty common in the British Empire, and is pretty much considered a joke everywhere else (from what I’ve seen), so all I can say is… no wonder the men (who really just need something deeper) have such massive incidences of homosexuality in those countries.

Perhaps it relates to education becoming less economically valuable than it used to be. Liberal arts degrees (which most people pursue at college) do not confer much economic advantage - modern languages and English lit are apparently a waste of time and money. Men who leave school to become plumbers and welders earn far more than liberal arts Grads - fact. All the best paid graduate jobs involve success in the mathematical disciplines, which very few students care to pursue.

Also, male kids in coed schools act like cheese-cocks because that what moronic lower-class girls find attractive. I’d eat bread and Jell-o sanwiches before sending any kid of mine to a coed state school - especially a boy.

The reason for these statistics is obviously becasue you used world statistics , you are a clever liar.

There are many places in the world where women do not even go to school and certainly don’t learn to read because of cultural setbacks.

Inshort, taking stats from the whole world is stupid.

but how about the US?

The center for education statistics reports that:

In 2003 average prose literacy and average document literacy were higher for women than for men, while average quantative literacy was higher for men than for women.

Between 1992 and 2003 the average prose score for women remained at 227 while the average for men decreased by 4 points.

On the document literacy scale, women gained 4 points between 1992 and 2003 while the average score for men dropped by 5 points.

In 2003 the average quantative literacy score for women increased 10 points while average quantative literacy for men was not significantly different form 1992.

Although some cultures deny women their right to an education, the fact remains that both sexes have equal potential for learning and can only be judged on an individual level, and not by gender.

There are actually sociological studies that find girls actually face more hindrances in learning than boys.

They include findings such as subjects like science being taught in a way that specifically appeals to boys and teachers showing more attention to and remembering names of male students over females.

Do you know WHY one in three women is illiterate? It is because in many countrys, women can not learn how to read. In afganastan, fewer than 1/3 of children in school are girls. Next time, try to think outside of the box.

@women rule - now, you said that “Women are better at reigning in impulses.” Yet curiously, statistics and mental health professionals agree that women are more likely to act on impulse. While men are more likely to use logic to determine they’re actions.
