Women Still Suck At Computers
Women are leaving the profession of computing in record numbers. A recent study shows the percentage of women in engineering is down from 38% to 28% since 1985. I guess that’s why we call them “engineers” and not “politicians”. With no women around, they actually get things done.
Women suck at computers because they can’t evolve with technology and they don’t know a USB port from a hole in the ground, which they also don’t know from their ass.
I was just riding the elevator up to my flat with an elderly woman. I’m a gentleman so I held the door open for her despite the reeking aroma of rancid butterscotch and prunes. She reeked of it, not me. I always smell like a man: a hint of cedar, a dash of class, and a double douse of sexy, sweaty money. That’s class you can choke on.
The moment the old woman got in, her hand jabbed the “Close Doors” button like it was my wallet and she was about 50 years younger and about seven-cups sizes more statutory.
“Gross,” I thought.
Then she held onto the “Close Doors” button until long after the elevator started moving.
“Interesting choice,” I thought. “Everyone knows that button doesn’t fucking work.”
Women are the amoebas of technological sophistication. They can’t and will never evolve for shit.
Men, on the other hand, are constantly changing. We adapt to new things and also reproduce asexually with computers. I guess that makes us like amoebas of technology as well, but in a different way.
My point is, women keep on hammering the space bar when the Caps Lock key is what they’re looking for. They hit the “Log onto Myspace and Send Slutty Messages to My Ex-Boyfriends” button when what they should have done was taken two Advils and gone the fuck to bed. In twenty years, women will be looking for a place to plug their computer into the wall when plugs don’t even exist anymore.
Amoebas won’t have evolved in that time either.
I guess we’ll be using some kind of eco-fuel at that point instead of wall plugs. Like you’ll pour brandy into your computer.

Well I was disappointed to find not a single girl doing my Computer & Network Technology degree, but I was surprised to find a nice girl studying “Ethical Hacking”… Unless it was Business Computing, not sure. In any case, I just don’t think the majority of women — in modern “Western Society” at least, whatever that actually is — find technology appealing because of their childhood indoctrination to female stereotypes.
Yes, thank you for mentioning the impact of stereotypes. Like it or not, the majority of people are melded by the world around them, only a small, special few make their own way completely. This is why there are so few women in certain roles, like computers. On the positive side, this means that if you are with a woman who joined such a role because of her own personal desire and drive (rather than money and non-merit positions), you will be working with one of the best, most motivated, independent people out there. Welcome to the STEM disciplines.
Look, the impact of stereotypes exist because the stereotypes exist.Just because a few women out there are capable of working with computers doesn’t mean they all are.Most women have little or no aptitude towards technical fields.Most men do.Again, some men also pursue non-technical fields because they are different from the male stereotypes.
People who are different from their group will always try to be different.And most often, in society today, they will succeed.But applying the uniqueness of those few people to their whole group as a general is nothing but stupidity.Feminists always try to wrongly do this.That’s because they are extremely stupid.
I’m saying that the reason that some women have “little or no aptitude towards technical fields” is because their exposure to such fields at a young age is limited or even actively curtailed by society. Half of people graduating with an engineering degree today are women, because there isn’t much of an active societal push against a woman being an engineer, because no one tells little girls that engineering is a boy thing, and because of the successful children outreach programs run by groups such as Society of Women Engineers and Women in Engineering. However, society still paints computers and video games as a ‘boy thing’, and a lot of girls have a natural interest in them but just aren’t part of the small percent of people that aren’t affected by other people’s expectations, and they find a new interest. I’m saying that if society, sadly including children’s own peer groups, ceased to assign a gender to working with computers, and dropped the stigma it has for females in computers (and its distrust and dislike for computer “nerds” in general), more young women would pursue computers as a natural interest, and most people who do what they are drawn to over their lifetime are good at it because people continue to like what they can do well, and because they will put maximum effort into it.
I disagree with you.If half of the women graduating were engineers, then the male:female ratio in all of the major software and mainstream engineering companies wouldn’t have been 3:1.Also, the upper level science classes of any university wouldn’t have been filled by men.You have gotten your statistics wrong.
It has been proven through many studies, which I do not care to cite, that most women have little aptitude toward the hard sciences.If you ignore these studies and the real statistics, and still say that there is a ’societal push’ involved, then I can’t say anything else.

I think that women know more about computers than they get credit for. After all the inappropriate behavior in the work place typically comes from them generally from under the desk beaver shots or using the computer to get even with a guy when a date didn’t go well. Guys usually forget a bad date, but women have to make everyone pay!!

Try this: when you are at work, stop by the Software Dev Department and count the number of females 1%. Then stop by HR and the front desk, count how many 100%.

I’m a software engineer myself and while I’m pretty good at what I do, I know some women that could kick my ass when it comes to computers. Yeah, HR has mostly women, but then where I work, the director of HR is a man. Then when it comes to the Finance department, it’s about equal with the director being a woman. I work for the city so now that I think about it, we’ve got some pretty awesome women in a lot of areas. Fire, Police, Library and Recreation, there’s amazing women all over the board.
Just because you know how to boot up Windoze Vista doesn’t make you a computer genius, regardless of gender.
