A woman voting on anything other than American Idol or her personal favorite type of chocolate is like watching a small child run full speed into a wall. Clearly the fundamentals are understood. The child runs, it’s going somewhere and there’s no doubt about that. The child can run. But very quickly one comes to the understanding that somewhere, somehow, the process has been perverted. Then comes the wall. Then comes the crying.

But that’s not why women would vote for Hitler if given the chance. Say what you want about the merits of an individual ethos of governments as you will. You’re all men and therefore deserve the right to express opinion unmitigated by slander or censure. What I’m saying is that by an intrinsic party affiliation — fascist — all women would check the box marked ‘Kill Or Savagely Beat Anyone Who Doesn’t Agree With Me’. That fact has always held women back more than any mythical glass ceiling.

The Nazis promised to get things back to normal, and because they had a charismatic leader with some seemingly tangible policies on how to improve the quality of life for the German people. A lot of ex-soldiers would have voted Hitler, a lot of rural farm-workers would have too.
I’m just saying; think about it. What choices did they have? Of course women would have voted for Hitler. He was despicable, yes. He inflicted some terrible things during his reign of terror (although the death count under Hitler is nowhere near as high as that under Stalin in communist Russia: he completely wiped out a race of people – the Kulaks), but he and his party promised a LOT. And these people were DESPERATE. Desperate times = desperate measures, if it hadn’t been for the crisis, they wouldn’t have turned to such an extremist, horrible, racist, scary party.
Oh, and the Nazis were pretty mysoginistic towards women. Look up about their policies – they had government issued brothels for the pleasure of the SS, and the encouragement of the production of Aryan babies of course. Yuk. And they were VERY keen on keeping women out of work and in the home looking after the children.
